In the framework of the preparations for the VIII Summit of the Americas, to be held in Lima on April 13 and 14, representatives of the States of the hemisphere are meeting in our capital, from 21 to 23 March, to participate in the Summit Implementation Review Group (SIRG), continuing with the negotiation of the commitments and concrete actions that will be adopted by the Heads of State and Government during the aforementioned event. The next SIRG negotiation meeting will be held in Lima on April 10 and 11.
The commitments of this working group seek to strengthen the regional mechanisms to fight corruption in the hemisphere. These proposals have been included in the Commitment of Lima: Democratic Governance Against Corruption, which includes issues such as transparency and access to information, participation of civil society in the follow-up of government management, protection of informants and freedom of expression, education in democratic values, international legal cooperation, asset recovery, among others.
In this regard, it should be noted that Foreign Minister Cayetana Aljovín coordinated the issues related to the Summit with Vice President Martín Vizcarra, who indicated that the respective preparations for it should continue in order to ensure its success.
